Author Topic: Scream needs help finding a graphics card!  (Read 1280 times)

I'm looking for a graphics card! It will be for a Mac, which is a bit harder to find. My maximum price is $145.

Requirements, it HAS to be able to run source games (TF2, CS:S, Gmod, etc)
I'm not looking for something that can run like Crysis 2, I just need it to run TF2 decently.

If nobody can find anything better than the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 gt, I'll just be buying that. But I'm really trying to find something that will hopefully be better, and cheaper.

The ability to have two monitors hooked up to the card is very nice as well, though not 100% necessary.

Please help :c

All I know is that my computer has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 555 and runs TF2 pretty freaking good, but I'm not sure how much it costs or anything.

So expensive :c

Almost all Macs have integrated graphics cards.

Good luck.

Mac model number / product name.

Edit: Forget what I said earlier, I forgot about Macs that have interchangeable parts.

My GALAXY 210 runs TF2 at a smooth 60 FPS at max settings, but you could probably get something better, I got it on sale for 60 dollars.

Edit 2:I think my video card is worse than yours...

Ok I thin I can help you here, so what are you looking for?

Yeah, that's the one.

Now, I am horrible with computers. On that model, is the graphics card the component on top of that small, lighter-silver box?

I just found a Nvidia Geforce 8800GT, compatible with MacPro1,1 for $130.

I never buy online, usually because you can get easily ripped off if you don't buy from the right site.
I picked up my galaxy at best buy for 60$ but you can get something even better if you have the cash.I saw a limited edition one that can handle four monitors but need a power supply extension connected to it...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130629

Comes with a rebate, and according to Nvidia can run Crysis 2.
oh forget me that looks really nice
compatible with MacPro1,1?

I'd buy from trustable websites. I like the ones that go through Amazon because they really help out if the seller tries to forget you over. Ebay, forget about it.

Newegg I trust because my brother built his monster computers off of that site.

The card fits in the slot. I'll try and look that up.

Also compared to the 8800 you've been looking at:

oh holy stuff yes
I'll seriously buy you like a $5 anything off of steam/mann co/whatever the forget if this fits and works in my computer
