Do you like Salvage?

Yes! I love it! I'll come on it daily.
It's cool. Sometimes fun. I'll come on it probably weekly.
It's so-so. I'll be on sometimes.
I'm not really into it. I will rarely join.
I absolutely hate it. Sorry, I'm not going to join.
I'll try it... Not so sure.

He didn't make the first. As I understand it he still wrote his version of the mod from scratch, which means he still deserves credit for the implementation if not the idea.

Watch. It will fail. Im not trying to be mean, I mean. The game in general, They are always filled with noobs, Cheater etc. They never work out.
It always ends up with a giant 1 stud wide staircase up to some guy blasting everybody with a rocket launcher.

Salvage DMs: Suck.

It is pointless to play them. Five reasons why I hate salvage DMs are:

1) It takes 30 mins to construct and stock a base.

2) It takes more or less than 5 mins to have that same base destroyed and looted.

3) A small group of players usually dominate by hogging all the weapons and raiding other small constructs.

4) Stupid n00bs shoot anything on site.

5) Rocket Launchers.

There's always that group of douchebags who sits on a floating baseplate with millions of weapons shooting everything that isn't on the baseplate.

I hear ya, bro.

So, dren didn't make the real salvage?
I made salvage, but I got the idea from Truce, who made his own version and hosted it for a bit before mine.

Salvage DMs are terrible.
It always ends up with some guy on a high platform shooting everyone and everything with a rocket launcher.

It's impossible to balance without making the map too big to be any fun.

If you allow people to move items, then you have a bunch of people in the sky shooting at a bunch of people with nothing, just because they joined first and grabbed all the weapons.

If you don't, the entire purpose of salvage is dead. There's no motivation to raid, even though you're actually properly armed to do so.

Salvages hosted by Lord Tony completely put me off of the genre. But I'll be willing to give it another go now that he's out of the picture.

Just like any other game mode, it has the potential to be either a lot of fun, or lot of fail, depending on how the game is setup.

i would like a salvage where you could collapse buildings (but not remove baseplates). that way sky towers could be knocked down easier.

But then how would you salvage the other bricks from the tower if it collapsed?

they all fall into items
