Good luck on that, then.

The download is just balls.

The download is just balls.

The download is a test of the engine I wrote, the game state system I wrote, the world system I wrote, the sound system I wrote, the object management system I wrote, the physics I implemented, etc.

I'm currently resolving computer availability issues, I will work on this when I've resolved those issues.

Feel free to post ideas or suggestions though, I still read this thread.

Well if we knew what the video game was about, we'd have more suggestions.
otherwise all the advice you'll get will be from program-smart forumers helping you with coding it or whatever.

I'll tell you some of the basic concepts.
Levels are gigantic areas that you can move around in, in a sort of side-scrolling platformer way.
At the top of the screen you'll have a "mini-inventory" with 10 items that can be selected with number keys or scroll wheel.
By pressing I, you'll be able to access your full inventory (around 30 items) and drag/drop items into/from the mini-inventory.
This game will feature combat, NPCs, various HL1-esque "item containers" that you can break, resources, etc.

Oh, and did I mention you'll be able to "build" with resources and destroy objects for resources? You'll also have a "wall hook", which allows you to stick to solid objects.

excuse me if this sounds a little like terraria

excuse me if this sounds a little like terraria

seems like any game that is 2D, side-scrolling and has pixels "sounds like terraria"
anyway, terraria isn't even in the inspiration source list

some of the games that this is slightly based from: metroid, cave story, under the garden, king arthur's gold

it's not just that it's 2D, side-scrolling and has pixels

the NPCs, "item containers" which would be chests in caves, building with resources and destroying objects, a wall hook, an inventory

i mean it sounds like a great game and i'd totally play it but it's just a similarity i've noticed.
