Author Topic: Stuck In the Perfect Conundrum (Solved)  (Read 1791 times)

Hello once again Blockheads, I present to you my problematic situation.

I recently dug up one of my older computers from around 2004, so I could keep a spare PC with Ubuntu on it. My younger sister and I shared it for quite sometime, and it was the base for most of my script kiddie operations. Needless to say, it's pretty forgeted up. Now, on to the problems...

I am trying to install Ubuntu on the old PC.
One guest and two administrator accounts. I do not know the password to either of the administrator accounts. Already tried every one of my, or my sister's passwords.

You cannot install anything on a limited account, so no password crackers.
Cd-Rom drive is jammed, already tried fixing it, so no booting from CDs.
Keyboard stops responding when attempting to boot into safe mode. So, no safe mode. (Would a different keyboard fix this?)
BIOS has a password on it.
My only option left was to resort to simple guessing the password to either account.

Options? Suggestions?

Additionally, I'd rather not have to end up spending money.

This. If not that then try to find a disk drive laying around and install that.

you said it's old, so does it have a floppy drive?

Even if it did I don't think he would have the OS install on floppy disk. Even if he did it would be a bitch to install them.

It does have a floppy drive, yes.

buy one
Windows 95 on a floppy disc wont be expensive

I hope you know that you can't simply find a windows 95 on a floppy right?

Get windows onto a usb drive then make it boot from usb first in the BIOS?

One does not simply find Win95 on a floppy disc.

If you can't boot from USB, install PLoP Boot Manager to your HDD, then boot from USB.

Oh, I forgot to mention, BIOS has a password lock on it. No idea that password either. :(

The video department at my school that I work in has windows 98 and 95 on floppy along with adobe photoshop 3.0.  Bitches be jelly.

Awh stuff I know this one!
Alright take out the battery in the computer for a good 20 minutes and it'll reset the BIOS.

Lol that's what I was going for but I decided not to because it would make me look like a 2 year old using memes for everything.
