Author Topic: Is jailbreaking an iPhone worth it?  (Read 4654 times)

so loving worth it
an iPhone alone? great phone, sure, but restricted in lots of ways by Apple.
jailbroken iPhone? everything you could want from a phone.

I've imported most of my music to iTunes and put it on my iPod this way.
really?
So if I do what the other guy said, I can import any MP3s?
That's cool

Yes, it is fully worth it. If you need any help doing it, ask me or any of the other people in this thread who've done it. We can also recommend you a great number of awesome apps you can get from Cydia.

forget you guys who say to be really careful. You can NOT break your phone by jailbreaking it. The absolute WORST you can do to it is have to restore, which isn't even an issue if you back up before you jailbreak it. Not to mention the jailbreaking process is so loving mindless you click a button and watch the program do it itself. Your phone boots up and there's a new Cydia app.

It's worth it. Even if you don't change very much about your phone, it's nice to have the option. Contrary to popular belief, it does not forget you over in any way. If your phone breaks from something covered by the warrantee, there is no way they will know you jailbroke your phone. I've jailbroken every iPhone I've had and I've had 3-4 replaced that were jailbroken. This isn't uncommon. One guy actually fixed it and told me he liked the way I themed it and didn't charge me a penny.

only reason i restored my phone after jailbreaking it was because it was laggier (probably because of the theme i chose) and the internet kept breaking like a motherforgeter and restoring it worked.

while it was jailbroken i didn't bother finding any good modifications or apps on cydia; most of the good ones i've heard of cost more than they were worth.

I wouldn't jailbreak my iPhone 4S, it wouldn't be a phone anymore what my friend said years ago, so I think jailbreaking an iPhone is no longer a phone in my opinion.

But jailbreaking a iPod touch, I would rather do that instead.

I have no idea what you mean by it's not a phone anymore. My 4S is sitting on my desk, right next to my android phone, jailbroken as ever. I can still call people, I can still text. It's still a phone.

That was my same reaction when my friend said that, but I don't plan on jailbreaking anyways.

It's important not to freak out while jailbreaking to. I remember raging when my ipod set into DFU mode and I had no idea how to start it up again.

What in the actual forget are you people talking about?

Because it sounds awesome, and really useful.

It depends on what type of iPhone you have, and what OS version you're running.

This is probably the most helpful thing for you to read right now, I'm assuming you're running 5.1.

Note: If you have a 4S, it can not be jailbroken at 5.1. There is a way to go back to 5.0.1 that was figured out a bit ago, you might need to google a bit. I can help if this is your situation.
