Author Topic: Giant Blockhead Statue(s?)  (Read 2055 times)

A pair of Giant Blockhead statues. They're a little off-scale, though that might just be because the arms aren't leaning 'forward' slightly like the actual Blockhead's does. The title is the way it is because one of them, the one to the right, was duped and repainted, so I''m not sure whether or not to consider it an actual build. This was my first attempt at recreating the blockhead in bricks. Built with default bricks and colorset.

Statue no. 1. Built without duping (except for the head, which needed to be moved for modification.)

Statue no. 2. This one was duped, then repainted to look like the default player instead of a bot.

A bot for scale and a hand, built as a test.

A small info-pedestal. One of these is at the foot of each statue and has its own message.

Foot detail.

Hand detail. I could've used one single 2x6x3 brick to fit the hand, but I decided to try and make the hand seem like it had fingers.

Head detail. I first tired to make the head with 'sunken' features that would've more easily captured the Blockhead's smile, but that looked weird, so I decided instead to simply make the head's face look 'blocky' or pixel-y.

So yeah. Give criticism on these awful statues. Ratings appreciated.

Statues of blockheads are a build style from which people just need to learn to stay away.
But still, these statues are adequate. 6/10 for effort.

Scaling errors. Hands too large, body too squat, head slightly too large.

If built on a larger scale you can fix these problems. I had one that was pretty darn close in scale, you can find it in the gallery if you search.

i remeber someone evented a blockland person that could move his arms and stuff

I can see what you mean with the body, and also with the head, but when I built the hands, I had wanted to keep them at an even scale. The hands of a standard blockhead actually are wider than the shoulders, which gives them an odd appearance on the statue since they're at his sides, but okay.

Actually, good point. The hands should be angled and slightly in front of the body, and when put to the sides like that look too large.

It looks better than most that people have built.

The width is too small.

two bricks too small

also the feet are elongated

you are blockland event

Is this better? Now it seems too wide.

The first one is perfect.

Feet look like they would fit a 1x1.5 brick, if it existed.
