Author Topic: Inspiration for Projects  (Read 661 times)

Where the heck do you guys get inspiration for projects. I've tried to make games, sprite sheets, flash animations, let's plays, and every time I can never get it done because I just don't have any inspiration to get them done. It's different for school, but for stuff I want to do.... I just lose interest (I don't have ADHD/ADD) and I don't know how people keep their focus on projects. How do you guys do it. I always end up giving up, my determination and will to finish goes away. Why the hell am I going on the internet for help!?

I've tried to make games

You just get really really really bored, and think "what wouldn't Gabe Newell do?"

That only works on homework, I've tried it. And the only reason it works on homework is that I'm not as obliged to tear my notebook in half then fling my calculator out the window and throw my math book into a volcano then give it all to the government to nuke the crap out of it.

Off topic, I should probably un-sopa my avatar.

one does not simply acquire inspiration by creating art, it is with inspiration by which art is created.

You're not Benjamin Franklin. Anyway though, if I need inspiration first, then art, then I will never ever ever make art :c

The part where he killed you (too much Portal 2 for me) the part where you said words of wisdom.

the way i force myself to model is by thinking that the model is needed for the said game

Don't do projects if you have no inspiration for them. They will clearly turn out stufftily.

Only work on things you have a desire to do, things that you feel motivated to accomplish.

Find a project that, when you work on it, you're having a lot of fun doing so. I know you said music doesn't inspire you for anything other than homework, but if that's the case you're probably not listening to the right music for you. You could try reading some books, there are a lot of authors out there with amazing works. Vonnegut always amazes me so you could try reading some of his stuff.

I just kinda get bored and start working on something and then delete it and start over 3 times and then finally work on it until I'm happy with it.
Inspiration just comes naturally, often from everyday stuff.
