Author Topic: Should people be Grammar national socialists, or use Bad Grammar?  (Read 739 times)

I'm confused, people say thing like "Stop being such a grammar national socialist.", or "Learn to spell right"
Ok... so if being a grammar national socialist is bad, and using improper grammar is wrong...  then what the forget are people suppose to do?

/discuss

they should be grammatically correct national socialists

Use good grammar
Then people will flame and say stop being a grammar national socialist if they can't win an argument or something else people do nowadays.

op is slightly stupid

there's a difference between being grammatically correct and a grammar national socialist.

Then people will flame and say stop being a grammar national socialist if they can't win an argument or something else people do nowadays.

Using good grammar =/= Being a grammar national socialist

Grammar national socialist.

To this question, the best thing I can say is what if they care or not

To be called a "grammer national socialist" is obiously unjust.

But its your choice

People should at least try to use good grammar, but if somebody does slip up, others shouldn't be richards and correct them like they are completely incompetent.

There is no Either/Or to your question.

Grammar is good. Being a twat about it is bad.

Also, to those who don't know what a "Grammar national socialist" is, its when somebody goes out of their way to point out any small grammatical error someone else may have made.

I try to use good grammar but I don't exactly know how to use it.

and if everyone's a grammar national socialist, we wouldn't need them.

They won't know they're doing it wrong unless somebody tells them.

They won't know they're doing it wrong unless somebody tells them.

Well sure, if they CONSTANTLY make the same mistakes, but that doesn't qualify as a Grammar national socialist.
However, I say if you can understand what they are trying to say, say nothing. Only with it gets be be ridiculous.

Being a "Grammar national socialist" > Being an idiot.

Speaking of grammar national socialist's my sister is Grammar national socialist... Corrects everything I say.
