wtf, that always leads to awfulness. things should never be completely outlined in black: since when was that a rule?

Well it'll look better if it's at least outlined in a darker color. (gives a minuscule bit of depth)

yeah, that. i mean, like, black outlining on your art is okay because it's cartoony and stuff, so that's alright.

for realistic pixel art, it's not okay.

Professional pixel does not indeed use black outlines, even still you're supposed to use around more than 3 different shades of the same color for depth and stuff.
