I made another sprite with two versions of shading and I hope that atleast one of them looks good
Version with more darks and lights
Version with less darks and lights

Personally I think the top one looks better

Heres another thing where I decided to do a lazy thing and use a blur tool on the background because the main focus of this was the character

that is definitely better, but it's not the best of ideas of making the light source come from straight up. it can most certainly looks nice, but it kinda looks weird the way you did it, it needs more light on the hair. I'd recommend the light source coming from an upper diagonal angle.

Custom font I attempted to make.
I'll probably use this font in the future.

why'd you remove it I thought it looked awesome
for real dude, this "my work sucks and i suck" attitude is getting old. every beginning artist feels that way but when you're clearly not a beginner and your art is clearly really good its just annoying because i cant tell if you're serious. i get you have little to no self value but you're a great artist and the pixel art looked great stop saying you suck when you dont

ya this and it gets worse when someone actually compliments u and u don't say stuff

so if ur gonna beat urself up about it at least try to appreciate it when people do compliment u

i do appreciate it a lot. it actually helps me keep going imo because if no one liked my stuff then i would probably stop doing it altogether

and yeah i know i should stop saying that but it really feels like it sometimes

that's pretty hote, the post seems like it should cast a shadow on the wall though. really digging the aesthetic of it

Nice!
Try moving the gradient horizontally as well as vertically. As of the moment it looks a bit too stationary.
