Hi, i'm in lunch at school. My best friend picks up coins and keeps them. My other best friend thinks that's stealing. It's becoming a heated arguement. It's so stupid. What do guys think?

Update: My other best friend dumped our friendship after 11 years. :'(

you mean he just picks them up off the ground like anyone else would do?

Money by itself is fair game. Picking up a wallet and keeping the money is stealing.

wow what

if he really doesn't want to be your friend anymore over something as minute as this, he wasn't all that great of a friend to begin with. picking up pennies, dimes, nickels, quarters - hell, even dollars - off the ground isn't stealing.

Yup.

If the money has no identification associated with it, keep it.

on the other hand if it IS on private property it is illegal. Because you can't just run on someone's lawn and pick up their coins....

you know what they say
