Number StationsWhat are number stations?
Number stations are radio stations that broadcast a series of numbers, usually accompanied by a musical tune of some sort that identified each station. They would send messages with these to spies, who would then decode the numbers into instructions, warnings and the like. They remain a mystery however, as nobody has cracked the codes and most likely never will.
So what do they sound like?
Oh
stuff man, you're going to wish you never asked that.
Number stations can range from distorted gongs and bells to what can only be described as an ice cream van from hell. There are some that don't even have any numbers and some that are devoid of music, and there are even a few that posses neither, only beeping and machinery humming.
Seriously, what do they sound like?
Fine.

The Lincolnshire Poacher, a British number station famed for being cheery and more pleasant than others and
The Swedish Rhapsody, a Swedish (hurr) station infamous for it's creepy jingle.
My favorites would have to be
Three Note Oddity (Turn off your goshdarn car alarm moron!)
Sinister Bells (Gong Chimes Station) (Leave the windchimes alone, Johnny.)
Olx (MARK SEVEN SEVEN BITCHES)
M1B (This is just like Team Fortress 2!)
M3B (Creepy DTMF tones away!)
Ciocirlia (The beginning music as actually really cool, especially at 0:18!)
Tyrolean Music (The music at the beginning is nice but HOLY stuff the number part is disturbing as hell ;_;)
So yeah, I'm not sure why I made this but there was a topic about it a year or so ago and I think these are cool so talk about 'em and stuff.
