Author Topic: Improving input performance in high-end games  (Read 839 times)

Okay, so I'm running a NVidia GeForce 9500 GT graphics card with 2 GB graphics RAM and a 2x3GHz CPU.

In pretty much any high-end game (e.g. Team Fortress 2, DX: HR, etc) at the highest quality, I get a framerate around 20 to 50 FPS, however mouse aiming is always "really slow" and impossible to aim with.

Does anybody know what I can do to get rid of this whilst maintaining the quality settings (no, getting a different graphics card is not an option)?

Oh, and don't answer "increase mouse sensitivity or acceleration". I have already tried that.
Also, to explain further: It's not actually "slow", apparantly, it's just delayed. When I aim left, it aims left in-game after around 0.3s.

pft, Team Fortress 2, "high-end game"?

It is, actually. It's a massive multiplayer. You need a good computer otherwise it may lag.

Use Gamebooster. Speeds stuff up. It increases my performance around 40%

In that case, it's your internet connection, not your computer.
Check your latency to the server. If it's above 100, you'll obviously lag.

heads up: it was high-end when the card was made
I'd try gamebooster first, if it doesn't work and if you have good cooling perhaps an overclock

I tested this on a listen server as well, same problem. Anyway, trying "Gamebooster".

turn AA down to 8X CSAA, that should fix it for the most part
should still look as crisp

some reason it works for me so i have no clue why it wouldn't for you

What are your computer specs?

dude
that's not 2GB of vram
that's 512MB
irregardless, turn on raw mouse input and see if that works

Display Memory: 2286 MB
Dedicated Memory: 495 MB
More RAM is being allocated to your video card because Windows doesn't think it has enough

Gosh, there must be a problem with your computer.
Look at the recommended specs at Steam:
Recommended: Processor Pentium 4 (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB of RAM, Graphics Card w/ DirectX® 9, Windows® Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection.

Or, those are inaccurate; but it's the official developer site, so.
