Speaking in terms of lore, Ryze was black before he learned thorn magic. His appearance was that of the Human Ryze skin.

But speaking other than lore, I suppose you're correct.

Malz isn't the equivalent of Indian, he grew up in a desert. That makes him black or brown.

Except that both black and arabian people can grow up in deserts. The only way to distinguish is with ethnicity that doesn't apply in LoL.
