How hard is it to un-weld, uncheck auto smooth and re-weld?

Not hard at all. The problem is, it doesn't remain flat shaded when exported.

Yes, exactly. It sucks too, because my models look way better flat-shaded.

Uncheck auto smooth?
Or make your things very low poly.
