Author Topic: Viewing the solar eclipse - Arizonians only.  (Read 829 times)

As you may know, in Arizona the eclipse has already begun.

In order to see it, all you need to do is take a needle, stick it through a sheet of paper and wriggle it around gently a little.

Then take another piece of paper and put it behind it.

Then go outside and put the paper with the pinhole in it and have it shine the light through it onto the second piece.

Boom, you're looking at the eclipse.

right now it's about 10% covered, it'll peak in about 40 minutes.

Colorado has it to ;_;.

Washington has it, but it is overcast. :c

Seen 3 lunar eclipses, 2 accidentally.

Either they were eclipses or pollution.

Just Copied and Pasted this.
If you cant find eclipse glasses, you could buy some welding googles or a welding helmet for less than 20  bucks.

How to make sure they work :
You can't see anything while your staring through them unless you stare at something super bright, if you can still see through in normal lighting they won't work and you have probability of eye damage if you use the non pitch black ones.

You can find them at general hardware stores or you can go to walmart and you can be sure to find them at Home Depot or Lowes.

That was the lunar eclipse in 2010. The pic was taken right in my front yard :D

eclipse is at it's peak atm.

I just came back in.

Sun is 90% covered. It's like the moon made out of exploding hydrogen.

To hell with arizonians only, I'm posting too. I put my darkest sunglasses in a pair welding goggles and was able to take glimpses at the eclipse. Almost missed it because we had dark clouds that kept passing in between.

Saw it, but the moon never passed the middle of the sun :(
