What are the steps to become completely anonymous?

I was just wondering, because I'm tired of having everything know who I am, where I am, and what I look at.

Example: Tom is looking at researcho, and it says "snake pills $2.20 a pop! Special deals for people who live in (Insert my towns name here)" So yeah, any help on hiding me will be nice.

it just uses your IP and tracks it to the nearest city (i.e. when I was with Bell I apparently lived in London)
only way i see is to use a proxy or adblock
