Author Topic: "Experiments in the Revival of Organisms"  (Read 1890 times)

This is 19 minute Russian film with English narration and some English subtitles about experiments on dogs where they were revived by artificial blood circulation. They literally severed a dog's head and kept it alive with artificial circulation, it's insane. And they did all of these experiments in the 30's. The dogs in the film actually lived on (Except for the one with it's head cut off ;_;). It gets you in the mood to read about more scientific/medical stuff like full-body transplants (Brain removed from one person and put into another, never been done before actually :o)

WARNING: It's slightly disturbing, but other than that, it's very interesting.

I have a feeling that the dog is in extreme agony, but can't bark or whimper due to most of the parts missing.

Reported for gross stuff!

Well, yeah, most of it's larynx is missing, as well as it's lungs. But, they would have obviously used anesthetic if they used it on the dog that they drained of blood.

I was joking, but yeah that's probably a good idea.

Imagine if they tried this on a person? I wonder if they could find out what happens after death.

Uh, he wouldn't be dead now would he?

Well, in the experiment, they leave the dog clinically dead for 10 minutes, so if the person was pronounced dead and revived, they really could.

Clinically dead then revived. Where is your question?

Now that I think of it, it would probably be the same as just going to sleep and waking up. They would have no recollection of what happens after they are officially dead.

That was an impressive medical feat.

The disclaimer at the beginning was hilarious, lol
He's a terrible actor.

Well you know, that's probably because he wasn't an actor, he was a Professor Walter B. Cannon

In Soviet Russia, black and white is HD.

It's a lot easier to say truthfully that you've witnessed the experiments firsthand and make it sound convincing, than it is to read it from a script.
Unless you're an actor.
