If you're someone that actually PMs me, you're aware that it takes me 3 days to notice the "1 is new" at the top, then another 2 to actually read it.

I'm so used to seeing "0" right there, that any other number of new messages is rather obvious to me
and if I'm not online there's really no purpose in it, is there?
