His boyfriend appears to be of mixed race.

I think maybe the comic is trying a shock value because comics aren't as popular these days.

This I have to admit is a lame part of trying to draw in viewers for DC comics. Marvel already has Northstar getting married in the main continuity. But the Green Lantern is only from Earth 2, an alternate dimension. (It's not even the most famous one, Hal Jordan. It's only the first Green Lantern, Alan Scott) Honestly, I was hoping they'd make a different character in the main continuity gay and someone more main character. So I don't find this change really controversial when it's a character from a second earth.

i like how it's been years and then all of a sudden he kisses a man and then he's gay

at least build up to it or something
I believe it was caused by DC's latest reset of the universe, hence the suddenness of it

Though I appreciate the irony of an American suggesting a non-American has an ego.

Just enjoying American conflicts, which are almost always the result of the monkeys you elect, or the religious presence in the US.

Fun stuff.

sure america isn't the shape, but you don't have to be a knowingly self-centerd prick about it.

Yeah you're right its not fair to take it out on you or the US people in general. Most governments have forgeted up their countries in the last decade, and religion is historically handicapped everywhere.

it's not really the peoples fault.

If I recall correctly, Sweden is one of the least religious countries in the world. And they will indeed be entertained watching all the Christian parents "protecting" their kids from this new shock attention grab attempt. It's not like things like this have never happened before.

All 1st world countries are like this. Things like religious, financial, and corporate entities are not restrained to national borders. Your country is filled with corruption and stupidity but probably not to the extent of the United States.

religion is some failed prank.

I wish. The most corrupt thing to happen in New Zealand in the last decade was some Asian politician buying research at a hotel.

All 1st world countries clearly aren't like that in such case. Come on, you have to admit, America is a global political embarrassment. Even this election you've got fruitloops like Mitt Romney squeezing in.

Ok, I do not particularly know in great detail the dealings of New Zealand politics and the social dynamics of that country, but I can safely assume that if your country follows a fractional reserve banking system along with the typical market economy based on competition, coupled with the presence of large corporate entities, then your political system may be tainted. I do agree with you, America is by far the worst, many times worse than New Zealand.

About right, cheers.

Yeah true.
