Bastard >:I

He was a famous Russian singer with a career from the 60's that faded in the 90's. He was only famous in "the west" because of the meme. That wasn't his defining moment.
the meme very much was his defining moment

a quick look at his wiki page shows you that (look at "publicity")

the meme very much was his defining moment

Maybe in this branch of the world.

I believe he and the people in Russia found his actual career to be more important.  Of course, the meme has concreted him into internet history.

Maybe in this branch of the world.
"He keeps asking, 'Where were all these journalists 40 years ago?'"[28]

sounds pretty defining regardless

He died and now we must pretend to be sad..

wow what a prick

Me & Lawtylawt send our condolences.  :panda:

It is no accident that Khil is known as Mr. Trololo; the Soviets censored the original lyrics of the song, so this was a way for him to quietly rebel against the USSR. In essence, he was trolling them.
All hail!

You obviously don't know this man.

He's a legends among people on the internet but beyond that, he's received so many awards for his musical talent.
Paul Robeson was an amazing vocalist who not only performed in plays such as Show Boat and Othello, but played in the NFL, became a lawyer, and acted as a proponent against the HUAC and McCarthyism.

I don't see you mourning him.

He will now be the lead of the choir when you get into heaven.

Can you imagine that? You're walking into St. Peter's gates and you just hear this lovely melody...

"Trolololol-lololol-lololol- huhuhuhuhuhhhh"

He's gone home, gentlemen.

He didn't influence people in the same way, musically or as a meme.
