Author Topic: Is it possible to draw this shape while following certain rules?  (Read 1058 times)

Is it possible to draw this box without lifting the pencil drawing tool from the page or backtracking over your existing lines?

I can't seem to do it, if somebody knows a way or if its even possible please post.
of course this isn't really thread worthy but we don't have anywhere else to post this kind of stuff so I figured I would anyway.

I remember seeing something like this but they tilted the pencil so it would stop drawing while still on paper, thats not what im after though.

Ugh, I'll be thinking about this for months.

I swear this was on the app I have on my android and you had to do just that.

Sadly I uninstalled it last night  :cookieMonster: let me try to figure it back out

or maybe it wasn't. Who knows?

ok i did it

lets see
i drew the box
you can draw this without lifting your hand off the paper
i win
yay

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eulerian_path

"For the existence of Eulerian trails it is necessary that no more than two vertices have an odd degree"

'Degree' in this context means how many edges extend from the vertex.
Four vertices in this graph have an odd degree.
So the answer is no.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was some smartass trick to this puzzle.
