Author Topic: let's talk amps, distortion, and guitars bitches  (Read 3542 times)

Going to use product images from a site here because my camera takes pictures in a resolution of 4000 x 3000 or something stupid like that. This may get a teeny bit picture heavy, sorry.

Ibanez GART60 (Much glossier type of Black than in this image):

Gear4Music G-4 Bass (silver glittery stuff):

Fender CD-60:

Ibanez somethingorother, looks like this so maybe, not actually in the house right now so I can't check:

Peavey Raptor Plus, which I can't find an image of the colour I have, luckily for you, or this would just be too many large images (as if it isn't already)

The amp I use is a 'Peavey Backstage Plus' which is about 10 years old. It is the only amp which I can get the sound I want from, but I will be getting a Line 6 Spider IV soon as well.

loving Peavey amps annoy the stuff out of me
they are so trashy
if i'm gonna get an old cheap amp i'll get a Randall or a Crate (the old crates not the new ones) because they're, again, old and fairly cheap, and they have amazing sound nevertheless

D:
I really like my amp. It is fairly simple, but even so, you can be very precise in getting the right sound that you want.

that reminds me of Orange amps. they're simple, not very pricey at all, but you can get very precise in sound, as you just said
forget Peavey, the two Peavey amps we had died in 2 months time after they were previously only used for about a year.

Orange is the way to go, i might save up to get one eventually but for now we're taking advantage of Ian's rich family to buy us stuff once in a blue moon

Recently bought a new electric-acoustic guitar.

Mitchell MD100SCE:

My current electric guitar is still my first that I got roughly ~5 years ago
It's a cheap guitar I found at Radioshack before I knew the slightest thing about guitars, I hope to replace it soon.

Burswood Je-3SD:

My current amplifier is a Roland 20XL (Combo amp):

Edit: I also have a crummy First-Act acoustic guitar, but nobody wants to see that because it's crummy.

there was an electric acoustic at Andy Owings music store at the mall down here in Myrtle Beach and it has that kinda glazed generic wood design on it, and it's fairly light. its an LTD guitar and damn is it great. the strings they put on the guitars over there dont break for years on end. me and Ian both have acoustics from there (at least i HAD one but i sold it a while ago before i was in a band) and, being used for 2 or 3 years of constant playing (mainly him, i only had it for like a year), the strings never broke. he still has the strings he bought it with today.

but yeah it's a kick-ass guitar

I love rocksmith. The song playing part isn't so awesome, but the fact that you can try and mess with almost every pedal ever makes this and awesome try before you buy product.

Currently digging the Six Band Equalizer.

telecasters are the best sounding guitars in the world

Neck fret tones on a tele rock.

RE: Inspiration;

This man is the god of all. The drummer of Nirvana and various other bands, and the Rhythmn Guitarist and Singer of Foo Fighters.
Dave Grohl has been my hero for as long as I can remember, not just because he's a talented musician, but he's actually a great guy, known as 'The nice guy of rock' and such.

Dave Grohl is pretty awesome.

How do people play with the strap so damn low? I have it so high I need to turn the strap backwards so that the buckle doesn't sit on my shoulder.
