Author Topic: So I need to build a new computer  (Read 1435 times)

Don't just ignore a pc because it's filled with viruses, How rude :(

Help him get better and upgrade it.
its a laptop and it had appearantly had a coke pored on it at one point :( would have been years ago since i have not had it around other people, only now was the motherboard overheating when running firefox with even a giantass fan underneath it cooling.

Budget is flexible as I can just work for longer before getting it. I would prefer under $5k overall if possible though

Thanks for the tip on the megathread I will check it out

Sorry for the delay in posting as my computer is broken and im poosting alternatively

Holy stuff. Under 5k. That could be a pretty beast computer.

~$1450

This build should be very easy to upgrade and will take a long while to be outdated.

As for the builds below mine, I think this one is more reasonable considering what you are using it for. Though you'll still need a case, peripherals, and OS. (I'd estimate $400)

I recommend you make a box out of bricks and have events that control everything separate

Plus, not sure if you wanted monitors or stuff like that, but if you do, I recommend 3 of these:

in an eyefinity setup.
Plus Keyboards and Mice which are all a much of a muchness.

While you're spending that much on a computer, get this speaker set!

Cool I like these suggestions, they are helping me know what I want to look for.

Right now I have two cases in mind.

They seem adaptable and not many negative reviews and they support the motherboard I was thinking of (I like the orange one but I will likely go with the cheaper one.)

Will be looking at power supplies next i suppose.
I like pecon's motherboard btw but I don't really know what to look for exactly besides that I get that intel 7 sandy britches chip thing

All I know is ask Ethan, he seems to be the guy that does this stuff.
Speaking of which I haven't seen him in forever, is he still around?

Haven't seen him maybe I have his steam i forget.

Anyways, when a case says it supports dual 120mm radiators can it support this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181017

I am having trouble finding any cases supporting larger radiators than 120 mm yet all the radiators I find look huge yet claim 120mm fans. Is that what I am supposed to be looking at? Where does the big clunky bit go?

Actually reading both looks like the radiator can fit in both :D
