Random spread with large quantity, use two tanks, one for compressed air and one to hold pellets.

Pros: looks like a flame thrower and can be used to effectively clear a room
Cons: Heavy, Bulky, consumes a stuff ton of bbs, cannot spread like real fire, sucks richard in most combat situations.

Red BB's for effect. Or perhaps red glow in the dark BB's, and a system which illuminates them all (they have tracer systems built into airsoft suppressors that you can get, they're so cool).

I ain't got stuff cause of where I live, there's no forests nearby and nobody around here actually plays airsoft.

It's usually paintball, but that's miles down the road.
the only thing i have is a broken Airsoft M1911 2/3 the actual size, a box of 1000 or so imperfect BBs, and I don't even have TARGETS to shoot at

targets, i don't have any friends to have a war with. they don't have guns.

Oh. Well then in that case go for the rifle.
If there is no need for having a small weopons always go for the rifle.
In war I would suggest a rifle still because it would be long range, unless you are me and use both (when my rifle/shotty is out I grab a pistol from anothers holster/where it is)
