Author Topic: Any local art classes I can take?  (Read 1032 times)

Okay, so to sum it up. I was really depressed (and I'm still depressed) so I tried to stay as far away as I could from the forums. And while I was away, I've been drawing a lot and I got a lot of practice while doing so. I've been practicing realism instead of manga and such. I can draw a real life woman's face easily. But a man's face, I dunno. And I need to work on the bodies. Especially hands and feet. And I need help in coloring and shading. I can shade in B&W because I pretty much know where to put the darker tones and how dark to make them.

Point is, I want to take art classes so I can improve.

So do any of you know if there any art classes I can take in Maryland that are either free or really cheap?

Okay thanks.

Any of that stuff
or
Any of this
There's quite a bit. Also, post some of your drawing ples

yay lizzy's alive c:

simple Google searches can yield results, but since I don't live in your area it would be hard to find one myself. You might need to search around town yourself, find a local artist who gives lessons cheap, as I would think any professional classes would be costly.

Personally, from taking a simple college drawing class I pretty much learned the only way to improve is to practice what you want to draw constantly. References, books with references, etc.

Probably not, especially that far out in Maryland.  You'd have better chances closer around Baltimore, but as far as free goes, chances aren't great but there are some good public high schools out there.

Your best chances are to wait for community college if you're looking for cheap classes, or a public high school with good art courses.

>depressed because of forums

>depressed because of being put into foster care

I didn't just avoid the forums, I avoided the internet itself. I basically isolated myself because of what state I was in.

But that's a different subject. Start posting with some relevance.

Thank you.

I may post one of my drawings later. But they are on paper. So I'll have to use my webcam, and I don't know if you'll be able to see it clearly.

I'm curious what your parents did to put you there, I really am.

Now for relevance:

Just attend an evening class at your nearest community college

Okay. Well, my dad was depressed about my mom leaving. And so he let the house go to stuff. And I think I mentioned my family being under CPS investigation for my injury being untreated for 3 weeks. And we thought the investigation was over. But they came to our house and saw how forgeted up it was and me and my siblings were put into "temporary" foster care. And it's been over a month. And the court hearing was today and the judge I couldn't go home, and the next court hearing is over 3 months away.

I wanna go home to loving badly. I just feel like screaming. I wanna cut the judge's throat.

I hope he dies the most painful, horrendous, torturous, slowest death ever.

But school is out. Unless I can find a summer school or something.

Like I said, at your age right now your options are pretty limited, especially concerning your current situation.  Your best bet at the moment right now is just to practice, practice, practice.  Many artists have developed their own styles and knowledge just by practicing.
