What is a reliable source to download a controller program-thingy for Windows 7?

I got a new XBOX controller that can hook up to my computer, so I want to get a controller program-thingy, thing is, none of the sources are reliable, they almost gave me viruses.  Also, I can't find a Windows 7 version.  I have been searching a LOT.

Help?
