i don't think you need to escape the *, unless * is a regular expression...

if it is, why didn't you escape it earlier?

No version of Windows made in the last 10 years has used the MS-DOS kernel. All of the versions are using the NT kernel now.

I remember doing it before between my laptop (which was running Windows at the time) and my desktop (which was running Linux at the time because integrated graphics card so no games anyway). Of course, later I got a real graphics card and stopped using my laptop other than for vacations.
