Author Topic: What should I upgrade to my PC?  (Read 1777 times)

My heart hurts.

Ok, i7 3770, it apparently does not have a Sandy Bridge version, and I need an Ivy Bridge, which would require an motherboard upgrade too which would lead to even more problems.

Either way that motherboard looks nice, I could do SLI on it and not only... I think I need more munies.

Why are you upgrading to ivy bridge? Sandy bridge is still more than enough for any game. You need a new gpu and psu more than anything

I didn't say I am upgrading to Ivy Bridge, I am just saying that MB looks badass.

It needs blue LEDs

Lots of them.

I have blue LEDs in mine :P

Upgrade the GPU and PSU.

It'd be nice to know how much money you got.

But if I want to record, why do I need to upgrade my GPU?...

I would buy the camera personally. Your computer isn't terrible although you will probably want to upgrade it in the next year or so. The RAM upgrade you're looking into is only 30 dollars or so. I used to have 4GB and I recently upgraded my ram to 8GB for no particular reason other than I could and it was $30. Coincidentally I also happen to do a bit of 3D CAD and experiment with virtual machines... But there's really no reason not to have at least 8GB of ram when it's only around 60-80 dollars.

Visit this site to download more RAM. I just used this on my laptop and now it runs three times as much faster. If you don't believe me, there are comments the site put up on there to prove their incredible free RAM downloads.

Leet, you have Micro-ATX board. So if you where to change the board you would need to make sure that your case could fit it. Also that ASRock Z77 board is Regular ATX.

If I were you it would be the graphics card if you want more FPS. And I would get a better CPU if you want a better recording/editing experience. RAM is also nice :D

Ethan is going to flip a brick.

I say you upgrade the GPU. The CPU is fine for a couple more years but the GPU is outdated.
Either SLI it with another 460, assuming you have another free PCI-E port, or get a whole new GPU.

Can't SLI, this motherboard is garbage.

Looked for a GPU.

I still want one in the NVDIA series:

The ones that are better than my 460 are 560 and up apparently. I could afford the 560 by adding my own money and selling my current 460, but it has a very slight increase in performance, still not 60 minimum on most games, the ones even bigger than the 560, cost as much as my PC.
