Author Topic: How to make vehicles look like they are made out of bricks?  (Read 576 times)

For my Mars Mission pack, I would like to know how to make the vehicles look like they were constructed out of bricks (Same goes for the weapons).

I am using Blender 2.6.

I would just model the brick separately and then put them together

Would you then package the texture file in the .zip, or how would you get them to display ingame.

Model the individual bricks (take the brick textures from base/data/shapes/brick*.png) and assemble them as a vehicle model.

What would be the best way to do this? UV Mapping, or having lots of materials.

Also, do would I have to package the textures with the vehicle?

Try both ways, and figure it out for yourself instead of having someone guess for you

Yes

You might want to make the model in Blender 2.6 then save the .blend file (making sure to triangulate it and save in legacy mesh format) then open it in Blender 2.49a then UV and animate.
blender 2.6 does not save animation/UV in a way compatable with ealrier versions of blender and does not have the capabilty of exporting .dts files as of yet.
