Author Topic: Breaking Norton Safety Minder  (Read 1721 times)

I have Norton on all my computers and I haven't gotten a virus in my life. Norton scans are efficient and fast and I can even get it to clean my registry and temporary files at the same time. It is one of the best security program I have ever used and people hating it are just bandwagoning and have probably never actually tried it.
My family had Norton for five years and we hated it because it was slow. (Or at least the old version was slow)

I hate when people say Norton sucks.
It doesn't suck. You're probably just bandwagoning and going off what other people say.
That's like saying nobody should say eating stuff is bad because everyone is just saying because everyone else is saying it.

I used to have Norton when I wasn't really familiar with the internet and malware safety and it really didn't do much. It only found cookies and blatantly obvious trojans. It was only until I got Malwarebytes that I found out I had two trojans and like five adware on my computer.

I can run full scans in the background and play Bad Company 2 at the best FPS. That argument is old as dust.

best FPS
There is no such thing as best FPS, it all depends on what you have.

This. I need my precious CPU so i can actually do things while being safe. With Norton I have to choose between the two.
Norton has registry cleaning though, that's something really usefull.

Uninstall NSM because it blocks everything. Use something not made by Norton.

Norton Safety Minder is a parental control program. It's doing what it's made to do and I dont like that.

Uninstall it and put your own password on the computer if it's not one of those "family computers".
Better yet, three, InsydeH2O hardware lets me do that :cookieMonster:

NSM is linked to their email. If I uninstall it, they will know because they will no longer be able to see accounts. If I break or disable it, it will still show user names, but no monitoring or time restrictions.

Are there any .dll files I can delete that will break it?

Use Unlocker and stop the process

lol it doesnt even use more than 2 percent of my CPU.

uninstall it, if your parents complain you tell them that installing parental controls on your computer is stupid because there is nothing on the internet that stuffty parental controls can block you from viewing.

It doesn't block anything, just monitors what I do and limits my time. I don't care much about the first part since I have other methods of web-browsing, but it kicks me off after a short period of time.

How short?
