Author Topic: CGI or animatronics? (New Poll)  (Read 3016 times)

As I said before, it depends on the overall theme of the movie. There is no need for CGI if you can just make a robot that looks just as good if not better.
what you really mean is that it depends on the overall movie from two years ago.
I guess you could make robots and stuff if you're bad at CGI or whatever. Dunno what quality movie you're making.
I'm sorry but welcome to the future; we're moving in and we're gonna stay. I know I sound stupid, shut up.

CGI takes years to learn how to make it look incredibly good such as the video you posted. You need certain programs to even Practice it. With Animatronics, most kids have experience playing with legos and a camera, or even those small little engines from kids toys. Kids would be more trained in Animtronics as they reach their highschool years. Where as learning CGI, takes special courses in schools. Animitronics has the upper hand because it's simple to learn and the people who build them have most likely trained throughout school years with cameras and stick figures. CGI takes time and there will be less animators because nobody has an idea of how to do it before entering High school.
Firstly I haven't posted any videos as far as I know. OK so the thing is that if you put all kids in front of computers most of the time they are gonna learn stuff.
and people learn more and more as it becomes easier to learn and stuff advaning blah blah oh my god why do I even have to type this.
Yeah some guys make LEGO technic stuff that movies. that's interesting. They're probably not gonna make the next Balrog though.

also sorry for toast

So you just said that CGI looks better than animatronics because you have to learn professionally how to work it, where as kids who have no idea what the forget they're doing, and playing with action figures, make stuffty/mediocre animations. Logic win

Animatronics are something that's worthless for anything besides movies, while CGI requires modeling and programming knowledge which is useful in things besides lame dinosaur movies.

All in all: animatronics are outdated and can easily achieve the same amount/better quality by CGI.

no, you interpreted that terribly.
Most kids know what they're going to be when they grow up before highschool even starts. Kids would have experience with stop motion because of what I said before. Kids won't have experience with cgi since they don't have expensive programs on their computers to even practice CGI. If kids decide that Stop motion will be their job when they grow up, hooray! But no kid is going to want to be a designer for CGI because they have no experience before hand with it and have no clue what they're walking into.

kids have experience with stop-motion cause they played with Legos so therefore they can make robots

?

Most kids have no loving idea what they are going to do before they are out of school, even when they say they do.

Yes, if they tried it out. (Look on youtube there are tons of videos of stop motion legos by little kids)
therefore they can make robots
?
This part is completely random. If they stuck with their career choice of course they could make robots.

and then they turned ten and found other things to do.

why is it robots though, I thought we were talking about stop-motion

how do these forgetn things even relate

Stop motion is a branch of Animatronics
