Author Topic: The World of Beshan  (Read 973 times)

I'm creating a world, and I'm trying to give it a rich history.  Possibly for use in BL, but it would be a massive project.  I'll be updating this topic fairly regularly, I even have a detailed map drawn out and some of the cities' and towns' histories already written.

I'm looking for critique, advice, and (hopefully) support.

[spot for map once i fix my goddamn scanner]

World: Beshan
Continent: Caine
Region: Meck Tahn
  • Vidoof
The massive city of the north.  It is filled with hardened seafaring people.  Vidoof is under the rule of King Algeras, who rules with an iron fist in the city that he resides in.  The people suffer heavy taxes, harsh laws, and cruel punishment.  There is a tremendous rich-poor gap in this city.
  • Usque
Somewhere between town and city, this is the main go-to port for all international trade to the north.  Being on the border of Meck Tahn, this settlement has historically been the first target in times of war.  In response, the Council of Usque, led by Way-Ko, formed an elite militant group known as W.K.'s Warriors.  The Ice Marsh somewhat separates Usque from King Algeras' harsh reign.  This makes the King uneasy, so he taxes the people of Usque at a reasonable level in order to prevent rebellion, or worse, a coup d'etat staged by W.K.'s Warriors.
  • Alka
A small fishing village town located on the strip of land between the Great Lake and the Mideon Ocean.  The town, much like it's people, is in depression.  The town is taxed heavily and often visited by King Algeras' army.
  • Apicem
A tiny mountain village in Mercer's Mountains.  This is a town with rebellious sentiments.  It is occupied by King Algeras' forces.  The rule is brutal, but that only fuels the people's anger and resentment.
  • The Ice Marsh
A very dangerous marsh full of rogues and dangerous creatures.  Only very experienced survivalists know how to make the trek across the marsh and live.

More to come.  Is the world believable so far?

Vidoof.  That was an oversight, thanks.

Mercer?
Wilbur Mercer?
No, all the names are picked arbitrarily for the most part.

Some are latin or dutch words that describe the towns though lol

No really, does he have two names or are these two people?  If it's a typo, then I'm trying harder to point it out to you.
