Author Topic: Buying an amp (4 srs) {SUGGESTIONS}  (Read 438 times)

Last time didn't work so well.

Anyways, my dad has come to his senses and let me buy a new amp seeing as the old one has a 4" speaker and a stuffty one at that (physical issue not electronic). I can hardly play without my guitar being drowned out by the buzz of the speaker. I don't want to spend more than one hundred big ones. I don't want a huge stack, Quality > Quantity in this case. I've got my own distortion pedal so I don't need an overdrive toggle, and It'd be awesome if it had a reverb and a headphone jack.

No valve amps please.

Edit: Current Amp

i don't get it, are you informing us that you are buying a amp or asking us to suggest you amps.

I was going to suggest something in Fender's Mustang series.

Mustang I looks like something my dad could agree on. It also has a forgetton of lovey tones, like a Rotary.

I like the sound that Vox's amps make.

I would suggest a Roland Cube 20xl
It has both Clean and Lead channels, a built-in tuner, aux input (To plug in your mp3 player), recording/headphone output, a foot pedal input (For switching between channels, effects). It also has Reverb, Chorus, Delay, Spring (?), Heavy Octave, Phaser, Flanger, Tremelo and Solo settings/fx. It also has 5 different distortion settings (along with an acoustic simulation setting), a gain control and 3 equalizer knobs.
Oh, and also a power squeezer switch.
Not to mention it sounds great and is totally worth the money.

This guy can probably sell it to your for $110/$120, I bought it for $125 from him when he was selling it for $150.

But then again, the Roland Cube 20XL is the only quality amp I've owned thus far. So there might be better amps out there for your money, but I don't know.

Interesting. I'll also take this into consideration for sure.
