Author Topic: My laptop (HP Pavilion dv6-2153eo) refuses to boot  (Read 1805 times)

Appearantly the message says that the "BIOS is corrupted". Any ideas?

motherboard is trashed.

although im amazed that you even see the message bios is corrupted.
POST has to get far enough to even bring up the monitor.

also, HP has this stuffty "automatically update bios" system.
which is probably why your bios is corrupted.

i would look for some recovery option for your laptop.

This is why you always keep a backup BIOS ROM image.

No, it doesn't bring up the monitor, but according to the manual the blinks of the caps-/numlock lights say so. It happened just after I replaced the CPU fan because the old one refused to work.

I have the BIOS image, I just need to flash it somehow.

okay okay.

do you have a flash drive 2GB or smaller?

Also, try removing the cmos battery for a few seconds.

Easier said than done.

contact customer support if you're completely clueless

Out of warranty.

Out of warranty.
wut. ASUS still gives me support even though my motherboard is from 2005
any company that doesn't give support after the warranty is not worth buying from again

Would probably be way too expensive for the quality, considering the general quality of HP products.

The newer HP laptops have the CMOS by just removing the back panel.
Check that.

If not, then we're going to try something else with the 2gb flash stick.

Okay, forget about the CMOS then.
Going to take a shot in the dark, hold B and power it on, keep holding B until it starts beeping, chances easily are this will not work, but it's worth trying.
