Author Topic: What did I do to my avatar to mess it up? GIMP  (Read 549 times)

I used GIMP to animate this avatar of mine
I have no idea what caused the borders to lose AA
but I assume it has something to do with the alpha channel

this is one of the images from it

clearly the edges are not so aliased

what did I forget to do?

There's not really anything you can do to fix it, unfortunately. Because of the way .gifs work, everything is either fully transparent or fully opaque.

GIMP can animate?  Woah.

wtf
why that's dumb. someone needs to work on making something better
do you think it would look better with a white background or kept the way it is?

have each frame in a different layer export as a .gif and check "animate" or w/e
then change the stuffs to your liking, like how much delay

Just blur the edges of each frame or something if it bothers you that much.

imo I think it's fine the way it is.

Also, there's .apng but idk if you can even upload those as avatars and some browsers don't have support for them.

Pfffff people haven't heard of the Gimp Animation Package where you can convert video into .gifs and do loads of stuff.

alright. I guess I wont dwell on it too much then.
hopefully apng becomes more popular if it supports proper transparency
