I feel sad for your sister's horrible death, but nobody's immortal and at least one human ceases to function each day, so yeah your sister got ridiculously unlucky with that. May she rest in peace.
I simply don't understand why everyone's poking at the smallest sentence they can find.
Let me answer some "plot holes":
