what? i was asking why he would want to learn russian, which he's most likely only going to use when playing L4D2 or some other multiplayer game because it appears that the russians that you get on your team can't speak english and therefore fails to aid the team and doing whatever he feels like because he thinks that russian is some universal language that anyone can understand. not to mention it is fairly tricky to learn a new bloody set of letters.

Russia is a BRIC country and therefor their language is (economically) very valuable.
I'm picking up Russian next year too, it's pretty much a guarantee for work in the future.
Don't drop it OP.

I want to learn how to do a bad russian accent so I can show them how uncle bourbon works

you couldn't be more wrong about that.
if you'd read through the thread you'd see why.
it's fun. and as sheath said, any language is worth learning.

Learning Russian will open the door to 250 million speakers as it is the 8th most spoken language in the world.

There are many Blockland players who speak Russian, one who is helping me in fact (somewhat).

Learning any language is a brilliant thing to do.

Try finding a boss who likes an employee in his international bank/thing/whatever with investments in Russia that doesn't speak Russian over one that does speak Russian.

i was learning draconic for the sake of it's a dragon language bro why would you not think that's awesome

but there's never ever ever going to be a time when i'd need to communicate with someone in draconic and i'm never going to find someone who's fairly fluent in draconic, without using the translator. cries

MasterRussian is a pretty sweet site. thanks sheath.

also uncle bengs i don't play call of duty thank you.

Where do you live in Texas? There's likely a good Russian community somewhere.

english, spanish, and french are probably the best 3 languages to learn. a lot of countries speak forms of french in africa along with it being a pretty well known language.

You too can speak like fps Russia.

Rosetta Stone is useful in learning the basics of any of the languages you purchase for it. Ive done Russian and French. The problem is mostly the fact that I live in an area where everyone speaks English so I never use my French skills and I wind up forgetting a lot of the words. To fix this Ive set my computers language setting to French, forcing me to use the vocabulary if I want to navigate. The only downside is that every word is marked as misspelt because its using a French dictionary.
