Anyone think blockland is getting ruined?

When I scan the server list of Blockland I look over stuff like TDMs, DMs, RPs, etc. because I know most of them would probably be the same old maps where the host loaded Slopes, set down a bunch of blue and red tanks and helicopter spawns and loaded up Tier+Tactical.

I tend to look forward to servers that have something new and exciting, like public addon testing or gamemodes.

You just need something interesting in your server that would catch the eye of someone. TDMs, DMs and RPs are generally looked over. A showcase of an amazing build or map that has been posted on the forum works well.

TDMS, DMs, and RPs aren't looked over because they dominate the top! LOL!

Those dedicated servers are still up high, but they seem to be falling down now.

Not that I hate them, but in all seriousness. They are getting really annoying, with so many people hosting them at once.

Personally, I feel that dedicated servers are necessary for a proper community, people tend to make more friends of the "regulars". However, every dedicated server crashes sooner or later, and it's often half a day before the host finds out and puts it back up. There's your time to shine.

The thing people like about dedicated servers is, they can come and go as their schedule suits them, so a host who lives in Australia, for example, can still make a good server available for players in America and Europe.

Every dedicated server I have seen has needed some work. There is one server that I have seen that was capable of true epicness, and that server belonged to Tomtom (aka Gambsy). Glass's server is half-assed and I usually play it because there's nothing better to do. the other TDMs don't have enough players due to the fact that players don't join TDMs that don't have enough players. So the problem is ironically self-causing.

What it takes is getting enough people on initially. After you get the first few semi-regulars, the server will be more populated and others will start heading over. Unfortunately, unless you yourself can procure some method of 24/7-ness, your regulars won't be too regular due to fluctuating schedules.

Me, I got the ideas. I've got about ten server ideas that have never been done before. The problem is, each one is missing one crucial mod feature that it would require to function properly, and nobody will make the damn things for me, so I sit in obscurity on single-player servers doing my own little thing. It sucks, I know how you feel. The most people that have ever been on my server at once was four, and that was cause I was hosting for someone else who had bad internet. But I'm working... working and waiting.

I hosted my Space Jail Escape at 11:00 PM or something like that, it wasn't dedi, but it still got about 24 players.

I think dedicated servers are great, you don't have to have a dedicated server to get large amounts of people if you build something that's fun that people enjoy people will come. Blockland is not getting ruined its growing and with dedicated servers there is something to do at all hours if nothing else is getting hosted

Dont mean to double post, but I agree with this, i was hosting a server with 13 people in it and like 3 people started to spam me asking me to host a family rp, it really pissed me off the server had nothing to do with rps at all and some people where really enjoying it yet the 3 people wouldn't stop asking then decided they would leave because i wouldn't host a family rp

i only see 3 servers on the list (including badspot's) that i would even join spontaneously to have fun.
otherwise i only join games hosted by the elite forum nerds that i know well.

on topic;
OP, you are under some assumption that a full game is a good game. this has never been true in the history of video gaming.
a good game comes from gamemmodes properly hosted, and content(addons) used properly and not over used.

blocklanders are just to stupid to host a "fantastic" game. so we have fun joining "good" games instead.
though i have high hopes for wedges new server now

these are TERRIBLE servers.

they are popular because the game concept is interesting and people are hopeful.
but none of these starfishs can do it right.
