I do not try to decide anything for them. I hope that they become atheists, but that is not my goal. My goal is like I said, to simply have them question their beliefs. To tell you the truth, I would be fine if I got a strict apologetic to admit evolution is correct, but thats it somehow tied to god. Im fine with that, as long as theyve questioned their beliefs atleast once.

Once again, I do not comment on personal experience. I have many feeling about what you are experiencing, but arguments about the experiences of someone never ends in a good way for either persons.

You are using the god of the gaps theory. You are just using anything that science cannot explain as evidence for god. People did this when we didn't know where people came from, when science couldn't explain whether we were in the center of the universe, or even whether our planet is flat or not. You are not basing it on facts or logic but instead finding nice stories to feel good. There is plenty to ponder and wonder about that is legitimate and can be proven so. The entire cosmos should give you a feeling of purpose and life, not a fairy tale you came up with yourself.

Well first off, you do not have to plug the holes at all. There is nothing wrong with not understanding something, or being ignorant. There is something wrong with being ignorant when the knowledge is already out there for you though.

Second, if you are going to plug holes that are missing in science, do it with science. Do not just make up fairy tales that will delay actual science. People like you did this for thousands of years, which lead to even scientists being persecuted for discoveries.

That is not what scientists do. Theories are not just random thoughts. They are formed from evidence previously found or observed. Scientific theories require evidence for them to be theories.

There is a huge amount of things wrong with making up stories and ideas to feel good.

1. You could feel good about actual facts
2. You no longer show appreciation towards actual facts
3. You contribute to those that try to diminish actual facts
4. You devalue to usefulness of discovery and advancements.
