Author Topic: Google as default search engine  (Read 1025 times)

So I've gone back to Chrome for a while and my default search engine was set to DuckDuckGo which I now know is terrible. I want to set it back to Google but when I go to Preferences > Search Engines there are no search engines to choose from. How fix?

Extreme case: Try reinstalling.

Wrench > Settings > Manage search engines

What is shown there?

Click manage search engines then look it up at the bottom.
Damn you beat me.

Wrench > Settings > Manage search engines

What is shown there?
You select it from the drop-down list to the left of Manage Search Engines.

Wrench > Settings > Manage search engines

What is shown there?

There is one sat add a new search engine...
Put Google for the name and keyword then put google.com in the url.

Doesn't work. When I restart Chrome it deletes itself.

Umm go to google.com then go bakc to setting and see if it worked.

That did nothing.

How is DDG terrible?
Anyway, if you absolutely want to, add a new one.
Set the first field to Google, the second field to google and the third field to "{google:baseURL}search?q=%s" (without the quotes).

How is DDG terrible?
searching "multiplayer piano offline mode help" in duckduckgo:
2 results about multiplayer piano everything else is about other games

on google:
5 results about multiplayer piano, 2 of which actually has discussion about offline mode/how to fix it, everything else is misc. stuff

i suppose it's not that much better but whatever

EDIT: also i've tried adding google but it deletes itself

DDG i have to find it on The meaning of the loop and I had to find on other users.
Google it's the first thing on the search.
