Honestly, I haven't had any issues with Norton, it's found multiple threats, dealt with them, and I went on my way. Really a shame that my subscription ends within the next month.

Which is why I'll probably switch over to AVG or avast!.

This is the same with me. Norton has not been a pain like you all say. It fixes the issues, takes a scan when it needs to, and that's it.

Plus, it comes with Comcast bundle. So it's free until comcast removes it. But I think they are keeping it. They had McAfee before, and that program was a load of crap.

I don't even  use an anti-virus, but if I had to, I'd pick Avast to watch my back.

We use Sophos on all of the computers I maintain at work. We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials for home computers when people ask.

Never install more than one anti-virus program at the same time. The exception is spybot search and destroy or malware bytes, both of which are more of removal tools anyway.
