Author Topic: AVG, what the forget?  (Read 1404 times)

AVG WILL NOT uninstall. I've done the 3 things I've found:
1) Trying to uninstall normally.
2) Using the uninstaller tool
3) Downloading the install program for AVG and choosing "uninstall"

NONE of them worked. GOD loving DAMMIT I HATE YOU AVG.

What else should I do?

Find the AVG folder and delete it

You need to go to... Wait windows or mac?

What does it say when you try to uninstall it normally?

Make sure it's closed first in your processes.

Ctrl + Alt + Del, Processes.

Also look for %Appdata%>Roaming>(Delete any files for AVG)

Well implying you got windows go to:
C/Programfiles/
And delete AVG, make sure to close ALL AVG process's.

I thought AVG was malware

Pretty sure deleting an uninstalled program like that isn't good.

It says nothing. It tells me to restart, which is how it normally uninstalls, but it never uninstalls properly. Deleted the process, still nothing.

forget, it might as well be.

When that is the last thing you can do you have to.
As long as it deletes the components it'll go away.

Welp, AVG embeds itself on the level of a virus.

First, I started ripping out every AVG registry item I could. I cleaned out plenty of stuff with that. I also disabled a couple of services. After spending at least an hour picking out various registries and repeatedly trying to run File Shredder to destroy it, I called upon CCleaner to help me. I took out so much stuff that CCleaner counted it as uninstalled and removed the last of the registries for me. I also used it to remove the shell extension, a bunch of "add-ons" for Internet Explorer, things like that. Then I'm at where I am right now. What's worse is that it's STILL running in SOMETHING so File Shredder can't delete it.

I have AVG and I've never had problems like this.

Finally, I destroyed it. I used Malwarebyte's FileASSASSIN to delete the annoying files.

I had this issue a few months ago. It kept blocking data from coming to my computer and sometimes just cut off my internet completely. I had to use several tools to actually get rid of it.
