Author Topic: I want to start scripting  (Read 1387 times)

What language should I start with? I don't know a single thing about it.

personally i'd recommend downloading Turing from this site and reading up on the documentation that it comes with
first coding language i've ever used and i did some pretty cool things with it

C#
C++
hahaha you're both idiots, if you know nothing about scripting, do a really easy language to get a gist of it, then move on to harder languages

such as lua :D

nah metatables are too much of a bitch

uh

...you know I can't really think of anything else

I started with visual basic and I'm learning java

java is a great learning language

A very reasonable reaction.

I knew nothing about scripting, and when I randomly tried to do C# one day it wasn't very hard.

Just because one person can get the hang of it almost instantly doesn't mean another will, basic languages give a general knowledge of scripting, which some people don't get when they jump into a harder language

I understand C# pretty well so far.

if you're doing game creation, start with GML (game maker's language, pretty powerful and REALLY simple.) and move onto stuff like javascript or C++ or java
if not, go to codeacademy.com and do their javascript course to try out programming. it's really simple to learn.
or if you're doing web design, go to codeacademy.com and do their HTML/CSS course. easy, and powerful stuff.

If you want to start scripting. You're going to need to make the script first of course. Then afterwards give it to Cat123 for approval.

lol cat123's a terrible scripter

Keep practicing on C# for awhile and then move onto something like Java.
