Tango and me are buddies and he used to host a city roleplay that didn't use the cityrpg mod. It was based on genuine roleplay which always ended up to be a gang war rp.
The admins were the "Police force", and they would elect trusted users to join the police force and moderate the city. Among these police units were Me (Private investigator), Tango (Sheriff), Giroian (Officer), CaptMeat (Officer), Phillip (Medical Specialist), Sabba (Officer), Socrates (Judge), Scorpion (Officer) and Kaboomwithyou (Explosives Specialist).
There was a law system in the rp that was simple. If you commit homicide without a given reason, you are jailed. If you own illegal weapons, you are jailed and the illegal weapons are confiscated. If you are caught holding an illegal weapon, you will be jailed. If you are caught shooting an illegal weapon you are shot on sight and probably jailed.
There was also a gun permit system. 0A was nothing, 1A was melee weapons, 2A was handguns, 3A was small rifles, 3A was automatic weapons and 4A let you use any weapon.
Only a police officer could grant you a gun permit from 1A or 2A, anything higher could only be granted by an admin.
So life was easy, nothing happened and the players were civilized and calm. Until a gang was found, and it was discovered that they were smuggling drugs and one of the police officers were helping them. The gang fought back against the police force, and for two years it was constant warring between the city until the leader of the gang was taken out. Then the crime rates started rolling downhill. Tango was kidnapped, I got shot a lot and I turned into a black woman.
Tango's kidnapper was then turned into the police, then he became a police officer, then he shot some people and got put into jail, and then became a police officer again.
It was constant gunfights, jailcells were filled to the brim and everyone owned illegal weapons. Then the unthinkable happened, a virus broke out and zombies began tearing apart the city. The alive cityfolk were moved to a quarantined zone without being debriefed on the events that were unfolding, being told that it was a gas leak and it will be fixed.
It was never fixed.
A bunch of troublemakers began demanding that they'd be let out of the zone, and an officer was killed in the middle of it. They broke free and discovered that the streets of new vegas (dont blame me, tango named the city) were filled with zombies, and all the houses were destroyed or on fire.
The zone was put at risk, and the walls that were breached were on constant defense against zombies and gang members.
Then, finally, some backup from the nearby military base grew a sack and started mowing down the zombies, and helped the people of new vegas rebuild the city. It continued like this until a wild gang from a nearby desert outpost shot up the place, and set a nuclear bomb down inside of the city's sewer system.
The gang distracted the police force, but an unknowing civil worker found the bomb, and the local bomb expert kaboomwithyou started trying to defuse it. The bomb went off, killing kaboom and countless others. The bomb somehow made the world's oceans rise, and the remnants of new vegas is now the costal line for America.
Crime went sour, and even more gangwars took place until new vegas sunk, and everyone who wasn't evacuated drowned to death.
Most of the story is accurate, this happened a year ago so I can't remember everything.
What I do remember though is having a lot of fun with friends on a great server, and I miss it and it's hilarious antics. I remember the time that half of the admins and some players pretended to be an indian mafia and they kidnapped every single woman in the city, and I had to paint myself red and worked as a double agent until I planted a bomb in the indian base.
