Author Topic: Google Chrome is being stupid, need help.  (Read 2792 times)

Wound, a "Profile" is a personalized cache in the chrome appdata directory, it's what stores your personal settings and suchlike but it only truly matters on a computer with multiple user accounts from what I can tell.
Now stop singing the praises of Firefox in a thread where they're not wanted and get the forget out.

Anyway, as far as I know to solve this problem you'll need to delete your profile in the appdata directory, there are small guides on the internet on how to do this, but make sure you look up a guide on backing-up your bookmarks and such first as you will lose them when you delete the profile

I have no idea how to fix Chrome. I use Internet Explorer.
I'm not going to run around like an idiot telling you to get another browser, but you should use another until its fixed.
You don't want to lose out on important forum time.

nothing is wrong with internet explorer, only if you have a stuff ton of tool bars then you can do that.

It's cuz it came out on da iPhone ;)

Yeah well go back to your constantly breaking down browsers that someone seems to post about every other day.

Google Chrome works fine for me lol. It's probably the fastest browser I've used, and reliable, for me.

IE, on the other hand, crashes when I try to open it.

IE9 isn't bad, but it still isn't the best browser in the world

chrome has that certain charm for me

I had this problem... then I went to linux and thus reinstalled the browser :(

Try reinstalling chrome, I can report that fixes involving setting the permissions on the profile file doesn't actually work...

no, only the fact that anyone smarter than the average user can exploit it to run malicious code

First of all, try rebooting.
If that doesn't work, try entering this into cmd:
Code: [Select]
chkdsk /F
and then reboot when it tells you to.
If it still doesn't work, run
Code: [Select]
del /S /Q "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data"
and then start Chrome. Note that you will lose your bookmarks, etc UNLESS you have it synced against your Google account.

Profile is the Windows profile.
