I don't know any popular rock songs, and I can't post YouTube links on my iPod. Give me some a rock song, and a metal song, and show us the difference.

What I would think of as a rock (I don't listen to much rock, so I'm only going by what I know that classifies):Linkin park, Trapt, Seether, Breaking benjamin.
Example of the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWaB4PXCwFU
You've probably heard this one, even though Linkin park is nu-metal; the group is typically categorized with rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9OhYroLN0

My favorite kind of metal, Power metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9TYmULEoCA
Generic Metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFkWDptSYQw

You can not deny the distinct difference.

electronic, dubstep, techno and chiptune(?) are all EDM

might as well just group them.

Oldies. All of the songs I have on shuffle right now could easily Annoying Orange anything I've heard when it comes to modern music.

I like Psychedelic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Opera Metal, and Viking Metal.

Also add Heavy Metal.

Modern pop music is electronic. They just talk with autotune.

Thank ye for adding folk!
Glad there wasn't a misunderstanding between folk and country, I hate that.

Anyway, I love some of the old stuff.
Baba O'Riley and Roundabout are two of my favorite songs.
