Author Topic: Blockland will not load.  (Read 1443 times)

I'm new, so please excuse my noobie-ness.

I bought this game for my son. I updated his video drivers to the most current and we are still having issues. When he starts the program, it goes through the process of downloading, etc on the screen with the clouds. Sometimes it will not load the 999 +/- items. It stops at 998, or something like that. When it does download, etc. a command box pops up, along with another box that is blank, no picture,  and has Blockland in the top left corner. This is in the command box that pops up:

After that has loaded into the command box, nothing else happens. I can't type in the command box. I go to close out the cmd box and game by clicking on the top right hand corner of the command box and the black Blockland box disappears. The command box doesn't disappear. I try to close it by Ctrl+Alt+Delete, but task manager will not shut it down. My web browser wont even connect to his homepage, so I have to restart the computer. I read somewhere about opening up port 2800 but that didn't work either. Like I said, I've updated his video drivers. He installed the AMD patch. His video card is a couple of years old but mine isn't. I've downloaded it and tried it on mine with the same result and my drivers are up to date as well.
I am not a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff. I know how to port forward. I had to do it for Minecraft and Teamspeak so he and I can play on our server. When I try to run Blockland on my computer, the Teamspeak or Minecraft server is not active.
I've searched so many websites trying to find an answer. I've even e-mailed Blockland support and never got a response. He wants to play it and it's so irritating trying to get it right. I didn't think it would be this difficult.
I think I've explained this the best I can. If anything is unclear, let me know and I will try my best to explain it better. I thank you in advance for any and all information that has us heading in the right direction, my son will deeply appreciate it, as will I.

Tip: Don't use blockland support snail mail.

Try looking in the development section where there are many different blockland launchers find one that works out for you.

Try looking in the development section where there are many different blockland launchers find one that works out for you.

This would be your best bet.

Thanks for the advice. Sadly, it didn't help.

...may I ask exactly why is your user profile in C:\Users while you're running XP?
This is strange, a GT 220 should run Blockland perfectly fine, perhaps try setting the profilepath elsewhere? (On the Blockland shortcut, add "-profilepath C:\" to the target, or a place where limited accounts can access)

The file path is wrong. The user accounts should be in "Documents and Settings" (C:/Documents and Settings/username or C:/Documents and Settings/users/username, one of those I can't remember). If you moved it yourself for whatever reason, move it back. You weren't supposed to do that. Also..

Try starting it in windowed mode.

Go to the Blockland directory,  config > client > prefs.cs

Open it with notepad and find the line that says " $pref::Video::fullScreen " and change the following value to zero.

Thank you for responding Koopa and Butler.

I am unsure why it is showing Win XP. He and I are both running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

When I installed Blockland, it put a Blockland directory in the documents folder as well as "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blockland\BlocklandLauncher.exe" The Blockland shortcut on my desktop leads to the C:\Program Files (x86) folder. I click on the short cut and it gives me the problem I originally described. If I open the blockland folder in the documents folder there is an exe file called Blockland.exe When I click on that exe file, it tells me that I need to use the BlocklandLauncher.exe which is in the x86 folder.

I haven't moved anything or switched anything around. It is installed default.

Are you perhaps running it in XP Mode? That could explain why it's saying that it's XP...

Yeah, the launcher is required to start the game itself. That should be located in program files so that is correct. And the Blockland game directory is in documents so no problems there either. As for the problem discerning Windows XP from Windows 7, I have no answer for that.

But pleas try what I stated above:
Try starting it in windowed mode.

Go to the Blockland directory in documents,  config > client > prefs.cs

Open it with notepad and find the line that says " $pref::Video::fullScreen " and change the following value to zero.

I went to the Blockland directory in documents. I did not see a directory called config. I did open the base directory. I then opened the client directory. There is nothing in there called pref.cs

I am going to bed. There is no sense in something being this complicated. You should be able to download a game, install it then play it. Thanks for your help and if you think of anything else let me know.

Oh, and here is my console.log file. It stops at the same place on my computer as it does his. Mine is saying Win 7. I tried installing Blockland in the C: Blockland folder. Thanks again"
