If you want to code with TextEdit then do the following:
Step #1: Open TextEdit.

Step #2: Locate the Format menu.

Step #3: Select Make Plain Text.

Step #4: Type your code in.

Step #5: When saving, do the following.

Not that I know of, but it can do TS-specific syntax highlighting with a plugin.
