Okay, I've tried to stay out this kind of discussions, but I'm giving up.
First of all: I think this clan is a stupid idea.
Not because it is dealing with religion, not because it is a joke clan, but because it combines the two subjects. OP, me and a lot of older, more mature users know that this is just mocking Islamic fundamentalists. But the majority of blocklanders are not old/smart enough to realize that. Some of them might even learn that all Moslems are bad people who burn American flags and do Self Delete bombing. People aren't mature enough for this religious topics like this!
Also: get your goddamn facts right!
Learn to differentiate between Islam and the culture of the countries where Islam originated from.
- Women are generally treated bad in middle eastern culture, but that has nothing to do with Islam. Women in the middle east are treated bad because of cultural habits, similar to those that were in Europe 200 years ago.
- The Qur'an even says that all people are even, and that women should be treated with the same respect as men. Muslim women in modern western countries are treated just like christian women.
I talked about this with a local imam (muslim priest), who by the way was one of the most humble men I've ever met, and he said that that was one of the biggest prejudices against Islam.
the same goes for burkas: they have nothing to do with Islam, but are part of the middle-eastern culture.
